Don’t Fear The Detours On The Road To Success

Where you will be in five years will be determined by what you do today, not what’s going on in five years now. Five years from now it’ll be too late, but you could always start from where you are five years from now. It’s never too late.

The investment you make in yourself today will compound every day. This compound effect results in an eventual expertise in your chosen field, no matter what the subject. Given enough time and focused effort, there’s no subject you could not master. But you have to be sincere in the effort and actually do the work to get the results you seek.

  1. The Ripple Effect

Nothing you study exists in a vacuum. Everything is interconnected with everything else. Like a spider’s web, when you tug on one tiny thread, the entire web fibers. This gets you the attention of the spider. The spider in this case represents your goals.

When you pursue your goals. by increasing your knowledge, it creates an undulation in the Universe. The Universe, like spider, catches every activity in its collective, no matter how minute or unimportant.
Every thought, each act, each action you take creates a disturbance in The Force, so to speak. Here and there, the connection is the wrong one, and you find yourself on a detour, off your goal track.

Not to worry. Detours, but failures, happen to everyone. It’s not a signpost to give up. Rather, it’s a signal telling you something.

It could be The Universe’s way of letting you get a different perspective on your goal. It could be a nudge from The Universe, gently urging you to take another look at your goals.

  2. Recognizing Detours For What They Are

Detours, then, are nothing more than pauses along the way to your ultimate success. Focus at this point is all important, as it’s very easy to get distracted by the detour.

Detours by their very nature are attractive. It’s always better to take the road away from the car accident that it is to sit in line waiting for the accident be cleared.

In life, detours could either be good or bad. The distracted mind is always following the detours because he seemed so pleasant. The mind focused on goals doesn’t look at detours as detours, but rather as other ways to get to where they want to go.

Just remember Doug in the movie Up is always been distracted by squirrels. He has a distracted mind. Don’t be like Doug.
